Freedom Is a Practice

Freedom and Heart Change

This capstone course turns what you learned in Freedom Groups into a written, scheduled personal growth plan: daily and weekly practices, community commitments, and a testimony you can give in three points. The tutor pushes back on vague plans until each element is specific enough to actually do.

What You'll Work Through

Each unit is a conversation, not a page to read. The tutor asks you to explain, apply, and work with the material until it holds.

Chapter 1: Freedom Is Something You Live

Section 1.1: Freedom For, Not Just Freedom From

  • Galatians 5:1 grounds freedom in Christ and gives it a purpose
  • The distinction between freedom FROM and freedom FOR
  • Freedom finds its fulfillment in loving God and serving others

Section 1.2: The Three Tools of a Freedom Life

  • Change comes through the Word, the Spirit, and the people of God
  • Flee temptation TO Christ, not just FROM it (1 Cor 10:13)

Chapter 2: Building Your Growing in Freedom Plan

Section 2.1: Naming the Fight (Temptation and Escape)

  • Four truths of 1 Corinthians 10:13 that answer temptation's four lies
  • Fleeing temptation must include running to Christ, not just away from sin

Section 2.2: Daily and Weekly Practices That Are Specific and Scheduled

  • A daily or weekly practice must name the what, when, and how often to be doable
  • Abiding practices target the heart's affections, not just behavior on a checklist

Chapter 3: Community and Testimony

Section 3.1: Commitments to the People of God

  • Naming a specific, scheduled community commitment (small group, service, accountability)

Section 3.2: The Redeemed Say So (Your Three-Point Testimony)
